The pinhole experience
What if a few tiny holes changed your perception?
The pinhole effect has long been known in optics: by limiting the size of the opening light passes through, blur is reduced and depth of field increases. It is the principle of the camera obscura.
Good to know
- May temporarily improve perceived sharpness in certain situations.
- Reduce the amount of light reaching the eyes.
- Do not permanently correct vision defects.
- Do not replace prescription glasses.
- Never use them for driving, cycling or any activity that requires peripheral vision and good awareness of your surroundings.
